Resumen: Mediante una revision documental y con el apoyo de expertos que participan en comunidades de software libre, este articulo establece una serie de definiciones alrededor el tema, para resaltar su uso e importancia en la actualidad, tanto en el ambito educativo como empresarial y establecer mediante las comunidades de desarrollo la forma como el software libre se produce y mejora. Finalmente se establecen las posibilidades de uso y aplicacion en el contexto universitario. Abstract: Through a literature review and supported by experts involved in free software communities, this article provides a series of definitions about the topic, to highlight their use and importance today, both in education and business and establish through development communities how free software is produced and improvement.
