La construcción de la memoria histórica como medida de reparación simbólica y garantía de no repetición a las víctimas del conflicto social armado en los Montes de María
The Montes de Maria as a subregion made up of two departments of the Colombian Caribbean Coast have their own identity; sharing customs, gastronomy, idiosyncrasy, and culture, who were once silenced by war. However, this belongs to the past and it is necessary to give way to forgiveness in order to continue with a regular civil life with protection from the State, and that is why this monography aims to illustrate how the Colombian State works for the protection and reparation of victims. through the symbolic mechanism of historical memory. The Historical Memory arises for the victims as a symbolic measure of reparation that does not intend to recall the pain they suffered in attention to the war, but to highlight, through the reconstruction of memory and history, the values of the past and to guarantee that these events are not repeated, representing a measure of material protection of the rights of victims. Historical memory, then, emerges as a kind of a call to forget, but to forgive in exchange for the truth. In the memory construction processes, there may be problems that prevent the search for truth, which is what ultimately matters to build memory; however, the oral testimonies and the stories of the community are directed to demolish them to get the truth and, therefore, the symbolic forgiveness that urges the peace that the victims of the armed social conflict in Colombia and in the Montes de Maria claim.
