The present research is a study that seeks to enhance local tourism development through the conservation and valuation of cultural patrimony; based on new forms of organization, administration and investment that enable the generation on new jobs and sources of income. It is structured in three chapters; in first of them, the theoretical basis of the tourist model of benchmarking is established; in the second, the methodological design; and the third, the results of the research. This study proposes a tourist model of benchmarking for the implementation of the program magical towns in the municipality of Corozal Sucre-Colombia, for such aim, a study of the macro and micro tourism environment of the municipality was developed as well as a comparative analysis of its tourist attractions with that of other magical towns, thus giving way to the proposal of strategies to implement the program, based on best practices.
