This work describes the current situation of the basketball teams in Rionegro, which present low competitiveness compared to the clubs located in Valle de Aburra, and this is due to the little strategic planning they carry out. To solve this problem, a benchmarking aimed at the best clubs in Valle de Aburra is carried out, as an opportunity to identify their best practices and that they can then be applied in the clubs of Rionegro. The benchmarking was carried out from the identification of the elements of the marketing mix such as the product, the price, the place and the promotion, applied to six teams: Sabaneta basketball, ABA club, club Guerreros de baloncesto, promesas de Antioquia, Alfa basketball, club de baloncesto de Itagui. Its realization was possible through the adequate use of instruments for the collection of information, aimed at coaches, directors and athletes, through a semi-structured interview. The contact with the interviewees carried out in a climate of mutual collaboration, allowed the obtaining of information and the discovery of the best practices developed within each of the different clubs, which differentiate them and place them as the best teams in the department, thanks at your level of competitiveness. According to the above, the basketball teams of Rionegro are called to take the identified good practices, and the necessary elements that help strengthen and redirect their processes, these will lead them to provide quality services that will influence growth and in obtaining a high level of competitiveness.
