Objective: This article analyzes how Jean-Jacques Rousseau was one of the most important philosophers of the eighteenth century, carrying out a constant and deep reflection on the relationship between human faculties and feelings, having a decisive influence on different political movements and pedagogical paradigms. Methodology: Through textual analysis, the Social Contract is comparatively studied in the light of other works by Rousseau. Finding: In the analyzed work, the affective and sentimental dimension is not thematized as in other works of the philosopher. Conclusion: The above will be the starting point to explore the relation between feelings and politics in Rousseau's work, using the specific case of shame and the image of the naked wrestler in the 'First Discourse'.
