Heir to a tricentennial tradition, Universidad de La Salle primarily focuses on a pedagogical relationship characterized by support, comprehensive education, and the teaching of Christian values; in terms of interaction and communication, the Lasallian approach is particularly characterized by the fraternal relationship between teachers and students, and among all members of the school community. This tradition encourages the implementation of proper strategies to determine the analysis of variables that show, at least at the population level, the characteristics, needs, and trends of the university’s students, identifying weaknesses or problems, as well as any pedagogical, methodological and evaluative aspects to be reviewed or improved, and issuing early warnings, regarding both performance, curricular structure, and academic procedures. Thus, the need arises for a training and support strategy based on the approach to knowledge, generating study habits, developing skills, facilitating the arrangement of activities in times and spaces for independent work, and promoting autonomous learning. The strategy focuses on students who are at academic risk in subjects from the School of Basic Sciences, with the purpose of encouraging them to stay in school. The methodology established for developing the proposal is to define the population at academic risk that will be part of the support processes and to assign a maximum number of students per teacher, to develop monitoring tools to evaluate and systematize the process. It is expected to have an impact on the students’ performance and to provide them with new alternatives to strengthen their autonomous learning.
