Objective: To characterize patients entering the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for Febrile Neutropenia, at the Clinica Prevenir of the city of Barranquilla, period 2015 - 2016. Materials and methods: Descriptive and retrospective study in a convenience sample of 50 patients diagnosed with febrile neutropenia who required admission to PICU. The information was tabulated in Epi-Info 7.0 program, the results include descriptive statistical methods. Results: Male showed the highest rate with 62%, mean age of 7,9 ± 3,1 years, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia was the most frequent neoplasm in patients with episodes of febrile neutropenia admitted to the PICU with 46%, followed by acute myeloid leukemia with 14%; 60% of patients had severe neutropenia. Conclusions: The behavior of the population that requires attention in the PICU is similar to that described in the literature in terms of sex, age, type of neoplasia, severity of neutropenia, hemoglobin and platelet levels, and identification of infectious focus.
