This book is intended to be a tribute to the memory of Carlos Franco, the same one who founded the Escuela de la Danza Folclorica de Barranquilla. Those who knew him knew that he was not only the director, he was also a musician, dancer, choreographer, he designed the dresses, made the props, and went out to get the money for the crystallization of his dreams; all are reasons enough to consider him more than a master and see him as truly passionate about his art. He always said that the most significant thing in his life was having celebrated his birthday, without having planned it, next to the writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez, on the same date that the writer received the Nobel Prize (December 10, 1982). By then, Carlos was 28 years old and his passion for dance continued to grow, so he was able to cross other borders, and thus bring the most select of the Caribbean culture around the world. His life marked other lives, because he knew how to plant the seed of his passion for dance in the fertile soil of many of his students, who remember him today with pride and gratitude for his teachings. Monica Lindo De las Salas, one of his students, has thought that this book is not a simple exegetical document, but also illustrates many of its other facets, some unknown. In order to show, first-hand, how Carlos was a visionary of dance and, without any exaggeration, ahead of his time.
