The paper presented was developed at the School Sports Initiation School (EIDE) of Pinar del Rio in the men's volleyball team in the youth category and aims to characterize the process of talent selection that was carried out for the 2018-2020 season. It was based on a documentary review, thus providing the necessary information on the current status of the object of investigation. Several authors who have worked on the subject and its results were considered, as well as the analysis of the background and trends of the talent selection process and its follow-up. For this purpose, the use of scientific, theoretical and empirical methods was taken into account, such as documentary review and measurement, which guaranteed the fulfillment of the proposed objectives. The results obtained offer a series of important data about the sports particularities of the athletes studied, which will provide valuable information to the coaches that will allow them to direct the work in the sense of training programming.
