Colombia –South Korea FTA represents a great opportunity for Colombian’s automotive sector as South Korea is the first Asian country with which Colombia will establish a tariff preferences system. It will open Asian-Pacific markets to Colombia. Nevertheless, competitiveness inequity conditions place Colombia within a disadvantage position for the treaty which might significantly affect its automotive sector. Therefore, it is critical to foster infrastructure, RDI, and education, as well as to allocate resources for this sector in order to increase domestic consumption and obtain a greater value-added exporting offer.
