The growing implementation of the Delphi method in the field of educational research motivated the study of its perception towards the qualitative, the quantitative, or the mixed. From a sample of 80 researchers, a positioning of this method was observed slightly towards the quantitative, although less than the statistical and experimental methods, and more than the structured surveys. A multivariate technique of data reduction allowed us to identify four underlying factors that explain the causes, incident to the perceptual process: degree of formalization, mode of organization, level of abstraction, and empirical/theoretical relationship.
