English Abstract: The paper presents a debate about the outcomes of the implementation of the National Strategy of SASTI (Social Appropriation of Science, Technology and Innovation) in Colombia 2010-2014 in the chapter of STS (Science, Technology and Society) Communication. This paper notes the prevalence of activities focused on deficit models of science communication, and indicates that the Strategy actions could be changing this trend. It also problematizes the relationship between the field of communication and social studies of science, and indicates the necessity to build bridges between these fields and integrate communities, mediators and researchers around the management and strengthening of these practices. The article also deploys some of the challenges that the Strategy executors have identified to generate a more relevant communication with communities, such as knowledge dialogue, diversification of communication channels and audience, assessment of these activities in the science measurement models and dissemination of the Strategy itself.
