This book is the result of the project Women Business Leaders in Latin ??led by Professor Sylvia Maxfield, initiated at the Simmons' Center for Gender in Organizations, carried out with the support of this center and the Inter-American Dialogue in Washington. The book is published thanks to the Faculty of Administration of the Universidad de los Andes and the editorial work carried out by Professor Maxfield and two of the researchers: Consuelo Cardenas and Lidia Heller. The project seeks to enrich qualitative and quantitative research on the participation of women in business in Latin America and build a community of academics dedicated to studying the subject. Although the findings show similarities between the experience of Latin American women and female executives from other countries, they point to the particularity of their way of leading and of perceiving or not gender discrimination, as well as the way they assume their different roles. We hope that the works presented provide a more realistic and closer vision of the multiple realities that women in the region experience when we act in the corporate world and that it contributes to opening new windows and opportunities for many women who struggle and dream of developing their talents and skills in a more equitable world.
