Salinization is a chemical degradation process caused by the excessive concentration of salts in the soil. It is estimated that approximately 5,6% of Colombian soils are affected by this condition that affects daily social practices; nevertheless, the specific information of the situation is scarce, dispersed and outdated; therefore, the objective of this article is to identify the local effects of the problem in the municipality of Sachica-Boyaca, a place with greater risk of having this condition in Colombia. The methodology implemented is mixed with qualitative predominance, derived from the application of interviews, surveys and analysis of official documents, which made it possible to delineate the community and institutional vision on the issue. The results obtained show a non-existent policy of management and prevention of salinization by local authorities as well as the action of local risk factors.
