Fencing is a sporting discipline that has not reached its maximum development in terms of scientific research, this is due to the low demand for athletes and the economic potential that can have against other sports disciplines such as football, which is one of the most practiced and researched sports worldwide. In Colombia, this situation is much more complex in not having a considerable number of athletes, and research is almost nil. Therefore, the objective of this research was to characterize a group of athletes as cognitive-perceptual skills and sports gesture according to their level of experience and modality. For this purpose, assessments of eye movements during combat, anticipation tests and response time were carried out by performing the sporty gesture of the lunge; Simultaneously with this test a videographic record was made from a side view to analyze the sports gesture from the artificial vision. The results mainly show significant differences in the fixing areas when the analysis was carried out according to the sport mode; on the other hand, the main differences in analysis according to the level of experience were found in biomechanical analysis; the joint analysis between the level of experience and the sports mode showed no significant differences. It is concluded by highlighting the importance of characterizing a population group practicing this sports discipline, since this allows to establish a baseline in order to enhance the training process with a view to competition. On the other hand, it was determined that research in this sport should be done distinctively for each modality because of the differences that since its regulation could produce inaccurate results if done together.
