Spanish Abstract: La tecnologia es el conjunto de conocimientos aplicados que facilitan la adaptacion del medio ambiente para satisfacer las necesidades y deseos de los grupos humanos, y tambien el sistema que dinamiza y organiza dichas sociedades; por esto las aplicaciones cientificasy tecnologicas, y el pensamiento tecnologico en general deben tener un enfasis en lo social, y especialmente servir a aquellas comunidades que mas necesitan de ella. Este estudio es un ejemplo de la tecnologia al servicio de la sociedad, que muestra las ventajas de implementar equipos de energia solar para potabilizar agua y de esta manera, lograr el suministro de agua potable y mejorar la calidad de vida de comunidades rurales pequenas, alejadas de los grandes centros urbanos. English Abstract: Technology refers to a group of applied knowledge that permits adaptation to the environment in order to satisfy needs and desires of human groups, and this also makes reference to the system that makes active and organizes such groups; thus, all scientific and the technological applications as well as the scientific thought, must have a social emphasis and specially to be useful to those communities that need them. This study is an example of technology at the service of society that shows the advantages of implementing solar energy equipments to make water drinkable and in this way to achieve the supply of drinking water and improve the life quality of small rural communities that are far from urban centers.
