Clima organizacional y seguridad del paciente en las entidades prestadoras de servicios de salud de mediana complejidad en el departamento de Caldas. 2019
Objective. To determine the relationship between the organizational climate and patient safety in public institutions that provide health services of medium complexity in the department of Caldas. Methodology. Mixed study of correlational and interpretive scope. A closed questionnaire on organizational climate and patient safety was applied to 267 individuals and 10 interviews using the free word association technique. All the related persons belonged to the emergency and hospitalization services of medium complexity health institutions in the Department of Caldas. Staff from the strategic, tactical and operational levels, as well as from the assistance, administrative and support levels, were recruited. The information was ordered in the SPSS program and the Chi-square coefficient was applied. Results. Patient safety is perceived as acceptable, with a rating of 3.8 out of 5, while the organizational climate was satisfactory. A statistically significant correlation was found between most of the items that make up the dimensions of the organizational climate considered in the study and patient safety. Such finding is consistent with the results of the interviews, where words such as relationship, motivation, communication, leadership and humanization appear repeatedly associated with dimensions of the organizational climate, patient safety or the relationship between the two. Conclusion. There is a statistically significant correlation between the organizational climate and patient safety, so it is essential that health institutions identify the state of their organizational climate and carry out the necessary interventions to make it satisfactory.
