This book presents the creation of an automated battery box feeding machine for the Hotmelt glue injector unit at Baterias Willard S.A., with the purpose of speeding up the traffic of batteries fed to the plate gluing and assembly section. The preliminary design was based on ergonomic principles aiming at a comfortable proposal for the machine operators. For this purpose, the data corresponding to the 50th percentile of the Colombian population were considered. It was determined that a ½ HP motor connected to a worm gear system was sufficient to drive the battery lifting mechanism. Subsequently, a CAD model in SolidWorks generated the manufacturing drawings of the machine, after verification of structural and clamping components with a finite element analysis. A total of 240 effective assembly parts were integrated.
