Health problems in developed countries have led to increased medical tourism in countries of Central and Latin America. This work proposes medical tourism as a business model for providers of the private network of health services on the island of San Andres as an additional option within the portfolio of services that are available in each health provider. As a methodological strategy, semi structured interviews were developed which were applied to a sample of seven (7) health service providers. Providers were found to offer services duly authorized by the Secretary of Health, and could offer additional acute non critical outpatient procedures for consultations with specialists as well as minor procedures. There fore, a medical tourism business model is proposed for the private network of health service providers in San Andres Island, according to the methodology proposed by Alexander Osterwalder, through the development of the following nine blocks: segmentation of clients, value proposition, distribution and communication channels, type of customer relations, sources of income, key resources, key activities, network of allies, cost structure.
