This article analyses how during the time of Nazi Germany the time of nazi germany an ambitious project was developed to categorize artistic productions, especially the paintings, in the amidst of the Great Exhibition of German Art and the Exhibition of Degenerated Art. In both events, paintings had the characteristic of being able to represent visions of the German society that served as discursive instruments not only for a political identity, but also for a national identity that sought to establish itself deep in various spheres of society. In this way, we will think over on how paintings, in the midst of its freedoms, can be politicized and bearer of a specific message.
