Abstract:

The coup d'etat in Chile is the result first: of the deep crisis of the world and regional (dependent) capitalist system, marked by the increase in inflation, the decrease in purchasing power of the popular classes and the progressive monopolization of economic activity by foreign capital. Second: the discontent among the popular sectors, who are beginning to become disenchanted with the reformist measures undertaken by center or center-left governments, incapable of resolving with their actions the terrible problems that are woven within their societies. Third: the powerlessness of the wealthy sectors to stop the advance of the popular government through the ballot box. Literature, the traditional means of expression of the oppressed sectors, takes the stand against an authoritarian government that defends the interests of a small sector of the population.
