Why do some companies die and others survive? Looking for answers to this question, a study was carried out in which it was identified that companies endure because they make variations to their internal organizational form and present superior sustainable financial results. The main objective of the article is to explain these conditions from a theoretical point of view. For this, a contrast is made from twelve categories, between evolutionary economics, organizational ecology and the theory of resources and capabilities (resource-based view). The conclusions show us that durability, being a complex phenomenon, cannot be explained in the light of a single theory, despite the existence of contradictory and complementary elements between them.
