The global education systems have been facing new challenges generated by the coronavirus pandemic, which have made necessary to replace the political and economic systems in which education is currently immersed, to respond to the needs and challenges that the globalized world and the new technologies pose in the current pandemic, opening the way to modern educational systems that respond to current and future trends along with the challenges generated for the guidance counselors. This writing is organized in five parts: “Contextualization of the agents of the educational systems at present”, “Critical prospect of the concept of development in educational systems”, “Challenges of educational systems in coronavirus times”, “·Role of the counselor in pandemic times” and “Role of counselor in post-pandemic or ‘new normality’”. In general terms, it is intended to observe from a critical perspective the need for questioning the concept of development, in which educational systems are immersed, in order to look for an equitable, fair and mainly human system which we lack, as it has been seen due to the crisis generated by the coronavirus pandemic. Double methodology is used: bibliographic research and descriptive method with diachronic and hermeneutical approach.
