Luis Alberto Acuna Tapias (Suaita, Santander, 1904 / Tunja, Boyaca 1993), was an important painter, sculptor, professor, historian, art critic, architectural restorer, public official and art commentator. His legacy consisted in contributing in the outline of the study of the Chibcha culture, through the results of his research and his art, which perpetuated in time his thoughts about the cosmogony of this pre-Hispanic society. The master Acuna, can be considered as the only Colombian plastic artist, who within the national and Latin American context, interpreted and represented in easel and mural painting, in a single composition, as well as in a set, an idealized vision of almost all the deities that were part of the Chibcha cosmogonic universe, including those that in their own historical moment the Chibchas themselves did not represent, but by interposed person out of respect for their devotion. Acuna, through the result of his publications and his plastic art, preserved for posterity what he considered to be the ancestral cultural memory of a society that had lost its notions of the production of meaning.
