This paper aims to detail the importance that the solidarity sector has had in the fulfillment of the SDGs in Colombia. In the first place, the history and importance of cooperatives is described from their social and economic contribution to the country, a recount of the most relevant events at a global and national level was made. Subsequently, the level of participation of the cooperative sector at the national, departmental and local levels was determined from the information that the entities of the cooperative sector report to the Supersolidaria, therefore, under a qualitative and quantitative analysis, the information analyzed was the one reported to June 2020, with which it was determined that the cooperative sector in the country had 2,759 entities distributed in 16 different types of economic activities, 5,948,812 associates and a predominant presence in 4 of the 32 departments of Colombia . Finally, the contribution of the solidarity sector between Colombia and the member countries of the Andean community was contrasted, analyzing the financial information of the entities of the solidarity sector, showing the economic contribution, the contribution indices to the gross domestic product, the concentration in terms of associates and type of entity that make it up and concluding the solidarity sector arises as a response to the diverse needs of societies and has been a generator of well-being and economic emergence for the countries that have supported this associative form.
