The objective was to associate the psychosocial conditions concerning the exercise of the work of a group of waste pickers belonging to different cooperatives located in the urban area of the Cartagena de Indias district with sociodemographic conditions and health conditions. In this research, instruments are applied to know the sociodemographic and psychosocial conditions of 206 recyclers who are members of 10 cooperatives, and consequently determine the health condition. Descriptive statistics of the different variables are made; and Logit models to identify the psychosocial and sociodemographic factors that influence the health condition of waste pickers. The results indicate that there is vulnerability both sociodemographically and psychosocially, the models indicate that there are different factors that decrease the probability of having good health in waste pickers at a 95% confidence level. It is concluded that the current situation of waste pickers is worrisome since there is a greater influence of psychosocial factors than socio-economic factors on their health, and in the former it is where greater vulnerability is observed.
