Objective: Identify the types of contraceptive methods most used by teens, compare factors, determining the prevalence of the age in the use of contraceptive methods, determine the media most commonly used in the field of the sexuality. Methodology: Review article carried out through the source of information MEDLINE (PubMed), through a search of systematized, using a strategy designed ˜ with MeSH terms. This work will be used a bibliographic technique - documentary and descriptive cross-sectional, virtual platforms was also used as: Scielo, Proquest, Web of Science, and obtaining data from the past four years, through a hierarchical approach macro - micro and delimitation of the problem at the level of the Ecuador established a triangulation of data to compare the results. Results: indicate that early initiation of sexual activity of adolescent girls is a common phenomenon. Surveys of health and demography, confirm that you between 53 and 71% of women have had sexual intercourse before the age of 20. Early sexual activity, tends to result in higher rates of risk of becoming pregnant, abortion and sexually transmitted infections. Conclusion: It must be taken into account also when it comes to the selection of the contraceptive, the findings of the general physical examination and the reproductive sphere, as well as no medical aspects, because they will not only play a role in preventing pregnancy, but also the not least to prevent the spread of a sexually transmitted infection.
