The present investigation describes what the psychosocial approach implemented by the Colombian Truth Commission consists of in its objective of recognition, and which can be evidenced in the truth event Mi cuerpo dice la verdad. To this end, a qualitative descriptive study was developed using the method of analyzing the discourse of three interviews and the reflections of the participants one year after their participation in the event. For this purpose, three categories were determined, where the first one contains four subcategories: 1. Psychosocial approach; 1.1. Definition of psychosocial approach; 1.2.Event pre-production; 1.3. The event; 1.4. Post-event analysis; 2. Impression of the participations; and 3. Lessons learned. The results show that the psychosocial approach is understood as a process, shaped from a multidisciplinary perspective, that seeks to work together with the participants and where care, trust, security and dignity are the starting point for carrying out the acts of recognition. Likewise, it reflects the meaning that this had for the participants and the lessons it left for the Truth Commission.
