Spanish Abstract: El presente documento tiene el proposito de ilustrar, de manera breve, la genesis y evolucion historica de la Escuela de Economia Austriaca, asi como el de formular una serie de consideraciones sobre el futuro de su programa de investigacion. Para desarrollar el recuento historico haremos uso de la tipologia propuesta por el economista britanico Israel Kirzner – uno de los maximos exponentes de la tradicion austriaca –, quien distingue cuatro etapas en el desarrollo de esta corriente del pensamiento economico austriaco. El paradigma austriaco es un analisis profundo y sistematico de la naturaleza humana y de la relacion entre el individuo y la sociedad. De ahi la importancia que reviste para el pensamiento economico mundial y la urgencia de aplicar sus planteamientos en el mundo contemporaneo. English Abstract: This work aims to briefly present the genesis and historical evolution of the Austrian School of Economics and to formulate a series of considerations about the future of its research program as well. In order to develop the historical report, we will use the typology proposed by the British economist Israel Kirzner -one of the greatest exponents of the Austrian tradition -that distinguishes four stages in the development of this line of economic thought. The Austrian paradigm is a deep and systematic analysis of human nature and the relation between the individual and society. It brings the importance for the global economic thinking and the urgency of applying its approaches to the contemporary world.
