The lands of heaven: astronomy, culture and power in Colombia (1863-1900) addresses the spread of astronomy in the second half of the Colombian nineteenth century through its processes and communication practices. This, with the intention of revealing the links between the communication of the science of the heavens and the political and ideological contests of the proposed period. In this measure, the work proposes to understand textbooks, popular magazines, scientific theories and metaphors, technological devices and even institutions such as cultural artifacts, which allows us to account for their true effects in a context of ideological polarization between liberals and conservatives; where a very strong link between science, culture and power can be traced.
