The use of psychoactive substances (SPA) has become a public health problem of international stature where control agencies are constantly searching for prevention measures that help mitigate the effects of consumption on the population worldwide. Pregnant women have not been oblivious to the consequences of this problem where perinatal maternal health has been put at risk as well as its entire family component. Therefore, the objective of this study is to understand the perception of the consumption of psychoactive substances and their effects on family dynamics in a group of pregnant women consumers. In this context, it is necessary to recognize the health sector should begin to design strategies more focused on the real needs of this population to achieve a better approach and differential care of pregnant women with the presence of psychoactive substance use. The present investigation was developed with a qualitative approach with hermeneutical phenomenological design, where the main purpose was to investigate, describe and understand the experiences described by pregnant women about the use of psychoactive substances and their perception in relation to the concept of use of SPA and effects in the dynamic family through a structured interview. For the development of the information analysis, triangulation was carried out through a qualitative categorical system. The results indicate that the majority of pregnant women had a positive perception of the meaning of the family, however, cases were found where there was no clear definition of this concept, where they said that there is no type of family bond. Regarding the concept of SPA consumption, there are two positions; the first where it is explained that consumption is a habit that manages to control and that they can dominate the moment in which they want to leave it, as well as the position where they perceive that the consumption of SPA is a problem of addiction difficult to control. Finally, it is observed that they keep in mind that the consumption of SPA in pregnancy can cause effects on a personal, family, social and work level. With all the aforementioned, observe the need to design new comprehensive care guidelines that respond to the real needs of this population.
