In 2008, the Banco de la Republica celebrated the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Luis Angel Arango Library, which, with the passage of time, became a first-rate cultural center, with very important documentary collections, as well as with a first-rate art collection, and an excellent musical activity; a cultural center whose objective is to share all this cultural heritage with Colombians. In this sense, this book gives an account of the history of the Luis Angel Arango Library from 1958 to 2008, when it was fifty years old. Using various resources and sources - press, magazines, the minutes of the Bank's Board of Directors, the writings of different officials: Jaime Duarte French, Juan Manuel Ospina Restrepo, Dario Jaramillo Agudelo, Lina Espitaleta de Villegas, Jorge Orlando Melo, interviews, studies and graduate thesis?, is that the author presents a view of the Library's own aspects, as well as its infrastructure, organization, services and art collections. It is expected that this publication will be useful as a reference for researchers and those interested in knowing a fundamental part of the cultural activity of Colombia and in promoting cultural works in the country.
