Abstract:

The aim of this research was to explore the effect of a protocol based on acceptance and commitment therapy on academic and social performance in a group of teenagers between the ages of 13th and 18th with academic and behavioral difficulties. This investigation was did through an open trial. For this, were used measures experiential avoidance, emotional symptoms, values and as a measure of the participants behavior the self-report (YSR), parent report (CBCL) and teacher report (TR) of the ASEBA battery. The results showed a significant decrease between the pre and post-test measures in the AAQ-II, in the VQ Obstruction subscale, in the Anxious/depressive syndrome, the internalized behaviors and in the Total YSR (Youth Self Report). The protocol based ACT showed moderate effectiveness in measurements related to experiential avoidance.
