The purpose of this article is to carry out a study on clean technologies for the continuous improvement of the environmental management of salt mining developed in the department of La Guajira, Colombia. This study was developed under the explanatory approach, of mixed type, the design is non-experimental, transversal and field. The population is made up of the companies in charge of the exploitation, exploitation and production of salt in the department of La Guajira. The sample is made up of three (3) companies: Procesadora Indusalca SAS, Big Group Salinas S.A.S. and Molinos Sales La Ye. The results present the environmental technological needs, the technological surveillance of clean technologies, the environmental problems of salt mining, the instruments of environmental management and the guidelines of clean technologies for the improvement of the environmental management of the salt mining in La Guajira. Finally, it was concluded that companies in the salt mining sector must incorporate changes in their production processes, because they are the cause of serious problems in biotic, abiotic and social factors in nearby communities and ecosystems.
