The subject of evaluation within the formative process of students has had an extensive theoretical development, for that reason it is constantly stated that the examination must be a continuous process and its results must be taken into account to reorient the teaching process; However, in educational practices an application of summative type evaluation is evident; Taking into account the situation, this research was proposed with the purpose of determining the incidence of the application of evaluation activities, focused on formative function, on the academic results of the students The research was of a mixed nature, the quantitative cut information was focused on the academic results, while the qualitative cut information was employed specially to evaluate learning from cognitive, procedural and attitudinal categories. The comparison of results shows evidence of learning in students, for that reason, it can be stated that applying these evaluative activities with a formative approach influence in academic results. Furthermore, the approach applied to evaluation promoted a reflection in the educative practice of the teachers that carried out this research.
