This article is based on research oriented to describe: what is the symbolic imagery that has the Bachelor of Physical Education on the playful dimension in the municipality of Villavicencio (Colombia). Faced with this purpose, the way in which the physical education teachers of the municipality understand the recreational dimension was identified; taking into account the didactic procedures used in the classes, which were assumed as dynamic strategies of the playful dimension. It should be mentioned that play is not just a synonym for play and that teachers use different activities to create a pleasant environment. It should be added that the method used in the study was descriptive, with a qualitative approach, the instruments of information collection that were implemented were, non-participant observation and a documentary review; In this way, it was possible to determine that the structuring or planning of the classes obey a technical sports approach, away from other didactic procedures or resources that tend to the identity of the “playful self”, which allows showing teachers the need to promote environments that promote the development of the recreational dimension of its students.
