The study focuses on the strengthening of reading comprehension in the area of Social Sciences from the strengthening of reading levels in students in the fourth grade of primary basic education. This research is part of the Teaching Social Sciences Research Line, in the field of Critical Social Thinking for understanding, interpretation and transformation of school knowledge in sociocultural and historical contexts. As a result it was evidenced in relation to the level of literal leanness, the majority of the students achieved a greater advance, at the level of inferential reading, there was a small advance, since they managed to make some inferences, predicted, deducted some ideas, extracted conclusions and they proposed hypotheses and, in relation to the level of critical reading, no major progress was made, since they manage to make some inferences but do not assume a clear position on the contents.
