Generally, one of the main tasks for parents is that from the birth of a baby they try to grow it in a healthy way. In this sense, to achieve this it is essential to monitor your health during your development and resort to the advice of specialists. With this purpose, this article seeks to describe the health care carried out during the Wayuu early childhood in the communities adjacent to the Universidad de la Guajira - Colombia. The contributions of the World Health Organization (2007), UNESCO (2006), Amodio and Perez (2006), Sojo (2011), among others, were taken. A descriptive study with a field design and not experimental was carried out where the technique used for data collection was the interview through a semi-structured guide with 16 dichotomous and open-ended questions. The population covers 100 people in the area of influence of the University of La Guajira. The sample was made up of ten (10) parents with children aged between 0 and 6 years (early childhood). It is concluded that the lack of schooling of the parents affects the problems that affect their children during early childhood because they do not have training or know how to care for them. Likewise, they do not make use of the medical-hospital services available, reflecting in the lack of health care for their children who do not have control of growth and development, nor of health promotion and prevention.
