Purpose of the proposal This proposal proposes a service to promote reading in the community gardens located in the areas near the campus of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, which will be supported by the Alfonso Borrero Cabal S.J. Methodology Prior to the proposal, a literature review was carried out to conceptualize terms such as information services and reading promotion, which are the key concepts of the project. Within the descriptive research, educational and pedagogical factors that support the psychosocial and cognitive importance of reading habits in early and second childhood were analyzed, which in turn can be promoted in educational institutions such as community gardens. The design thinking model for the creation of services, using a five-phase process empathize, define, devise, prototype and validate Results It was determined that, although incorporating reading practices is a standard practice in the educational sector, these programs usually suffer limitations in the totality of their bibliographic collections, training in the area and sufficient qualified professional to carry out these activities. Conclusions Finally, it is concluded that the proposed proposal contributes to the updating of pedagogical practices, allowing greater learning and development of skills by early childhood children.
