This article is presented as analysis of the concept of governance from the backbone 1 of the global competitiveness report IGC of the World Economic Forum for Colombia between 2012 and 2017. The following variables were taken: public confidence in politicians, irregular payments and bribes, judicial independence, waste of public expenditure and transparency in the formulation of government policies. The approach was descriptive, statistical, rankings and scoring were taken during the period 2012 - 2017 and an analysis of its evolution was made. The study allows to conclude, in 2017 the variables showed unfavorable results in their rating on the scale of 1 to 7 compared to the results in 2012, which highlights the deterioration of public confidence in politicians and the waste of public expenditure
