The general purpose of this research project was to design a protocol of psychological intervention from a behavioral perspective for the care of families with adolescent children characterized by conflictive interactions. For this purpose, a theoretical and empirical literature review on family conflict in homes with adolescents was carried out, and most of the relevant behavioral interventions were explored. Thus, several components of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy -ACT- (Hayes, Strosahl & Wilson, 1999), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy -PCIT- (Eyberg & Funderburk, 2011), and Family Integrative Therapy -TIF- (Greco & Eifert, 2004) were combined and integrated in order to develop a protocol based on acceptance strategies and techniques, and skills training abilities. The output was a protocol for a brief intervention process (four assessment sessions, eight intervention sessions, and two follow-up sessions) as an alternative for psychological assessment and intervention, and for facilitating the work of psychologists in relevant clinical contexts and the service of families with teenage children in conflict situations.
