The informal caregiver is a priority in the care provided to an older adult sick, result of this action, the caregiver can experience overloading, and also perceive low levels of family functioning. The objective of the research was to determine whether there is a relationship between overload and family functioning in informal caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's, for this the level of overload was identified, and the level of family functioning, Subsequently, the correlation between these two variables was made. The methodology was developed from the quantitative paradigm, empirical-analytical approach, correlational type, transversal design, and sampling for convenience, obtaining 45 subjects. The results show that the intense overload corresponds to 56% and the serious dysfunction to 33% of the carers; Subsequently, the non-relationship between variables was verified. It is concluded that sociodemographic variables are conducive or inhibiting levels of overload and family functioning.
