International migration is a highly complex process with a wide variety of causes and consequences, these processes have accompanied humanity throughout the years and have taken different dimensions with the passage of time and in a more accelerated way with the arrival of globalization that has increased the rate of migrants throughout the planet, taking the migrant and the countries where it is carried out to experience changes in their economies, society, culture, education, among others. Colombia has crossed since 2016 has received a high number of migrants who have decided to cross the border in search of better opportunities, therefore, in this research, an analysis of the socioeconomic impact that migration has brought and which It has been the impact on fundamental economic variables for the country such as the unemployment rate, wages and poverty. This analysis will be based on the information provided by official databases, contributions from businessmen, and reports from supranational organizations. In addition, all the previous studies and theories that the academy offers will be taken into account in order to have a greater clarity of what international migration is and how it has developed in other parts of the planet. Finally, there will be some conclusions in which it can be seen how migrations by themselves are not factors that have a negative impact on the Colombian economy, but on the contrary, can become an engine of development for the country, of likewise, some recommendations are presented in order to mitigate the negative impacts, mainly in the border areas.
