The industry of the trips and tourism is one of the economic activities with greater growth in the last decades, and within this, the hotel and extrahotel sector, they have had an increase, in its activities and infrastructure. As opposed to this expansion it is necessary to consider environmental and social the impacts produced to avoid the lost one of competitiveness of the activity from the destruction of the natural and cultural tourist resources. The lodging sector must point a model of sustainable development and to reach it, is essential to implement systems of environmental management in the companies of the sector. On the other hand, besides the protection of the atmosphere, the incorporation of the environmental management in the lodging companies implies a change in the image of the same ones increasing therefore the possibilities of competitiveness and sustainability of the activity.
