espanolEl presente articulo analiza la dialectica suscitada por el uso homologo de las nociones de sostenibilidad y sustentabilidad. Mediante investigacion documental, se evidencia la indebida utilizacion del termino sustentabilidad, vocablo inexistente en idioma castellano, ingles y portugues, cuya relevancia se erige desde la “usanza”, sin que medien criterios linguisticos ni historicos que lo avalen. Este ejercicio, precisa la genesis de la sostenibilidad y del desarrollo sostenible, como conceptos oficializados por Naciones Unidas para estudiar cientificamente, el balance social, economico y ambiental necesario para la preservacion. Se plantea aceptar la sustentabilidad, como la dimension medioambiental en la triada de la sostenibilidad. EnglishThis article analyzes the dialectic raised by the homologous use of the notions of sustainability and «sustentabilidad». Through documentary research, there is evidence of the improper use of the term sustainability, a non-existent word in Spanish, English and Portuguese, whose relevance is based on usage, without the use of linguistic or historical criteria to support it. This exercise specifies the genesis of sustainability and sustainable development, as concepts officialized by the United Nations to study scientifically, the social, economic and environmental balance necessary for the preservation.
