this vegetable mass is found in public spaces due to the mandatory urban concessions that are required by law to all the real estate projects in the city of Santiago de Cali. Nevertheless, these areas of public space aside from having low levels of biodiversity, they also suffer loss of trees on a year to year basis along with its environmental spatial, ecological and landscaping benefits, since they are subject to invasive trimming and/or removal due to the encounter with built elements either public or private. The objective of this study is to present the basis of a method that allows us to analyze the current state of the mandatory green zones from the viewpoint of Urban Forestry, at the same time it looks to generate a tool that allows the municipal administration and any citizen, identify potential advantages and disadvantages in the use of a specific specie of tree in the mandatory urban concession zones in Santiago de Cali. Looking to increase the use of native species, endogenous and with deep roots, that do not impact the public space, that in general terms it allows the subsistence and co-existence of the natural and the anthropic in the public space of Santiago de Cali
