In the last decades, the agricultural market has been evolving remarkably. The Quality Management Systems have allowed the increasingly broad linkage of producers to markets characterized by compliance with standards that can guarantee the quality as well as the safety of the products. An example is the inclusion of novel products whose consumption provides well-being and health, as happens with the cultivation of cranberry (Vaccinium Corymbosum L.), which internationally and nationally has gained representativeness with wide insertion in specialized markets, for its nutritional qualities (source of vitamins), high antioxidant content and low amount of calories, intervening in the cellular metabolism of those who consume it frequently, thus decreasing the action of free radicals associated with aging and heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, main causes of death not only in Colombia but worldwide. The municipality of Úmbita, Boyacá, has an optimal environmental offer for the production of cranberry. The main objective of the work was to describe the different production systems, evaluate the ecosystemic and cultural components, and finally analyze the perspectives for the implementation of this cultivar. The results showed that from the technical, financial, social and environmental point of view, blueberry cultivation is a viable alternative, capable of generating important economic resources necessary to improve the quality of life of producers, consumers and is a promising option to the monoculture of the potato that for many years has been developing in the region, with serious phytosanitary and environmental implications
