This document presents the proposal for a change in the maintenance process that is currently being used in the Calera cementos Argos S.A. plant located in the village of Mulalo, Yumbo (Valle del Cauca). Reports have been received, informing about recurrent stops that were presented at the plant during the years 2017 and 2018. The start-up of the current maintenance, the difficulties presented during this process and the different dependent and independent variables that influence the operation of the primary mills to stop were analyzed. The proposal for implementation of the Total Productive Maintenance System -TPM- aims to improve the availability rates of primary mills, reducing machine down-town and increasing labor productivity, (by using prediction and failure alarms that help detect these early) based on early warnings that indicate by means of prediction and failure alarms. in the primary grindings that can be detected in time. This would improve total productivity, a necessary condition for competitiveness. It is also intended that this proposal serve as a model for future work and training in other areas of the company so that the employees of the Argos cement plant can identify possible failures, avoiding additional costs regarding maintenance.
