This article presents the assessment of a line of urban parks in the Comuna 5 Centro of the city of Tunja, Colombia. The objective is to assess the conditions of deterioration that are perceived in these public infrastructures, where natural resources converge. The methodology is based on the characterization of physical-environmental aspects, namely: urban furniture, uses of the place, safety and comfort, and scenic conditions and visual appeal. The results indicate the inadequacy of the urban furniture and the non-development of the ideal uses with the desired frequency; there is an acceptable security and comfort valued as limited; the plant and ornamental variety is scarce and its condition is acceptable. It concludes the existence of a relationship between the characteristics of urban furniture and the uses of the place, with consequences such as non-permanence, lack of urban identity and appropriation; likewise the need for immediate intervention through an urban treatment based on urban renewal.
