In greenhouse conditions P. maximum shows a high response to phosphorus applications as long as. The external requirements are less than 100 kg/ha wich can be taken as some degree of tolerance of the specie to high aluminum concentrations in the soil. The external requirements of phosphorus were asffollows: 14 ppm (accession 6299), 16 ppm (604), 20 ppm (673, 672, 6179) and 25 ppm (accessions 622 and 695).
